Diversity involves recognition
that everyone is different, and promotes respect and recognition for the value of difference. Recognizing that being
wedded to one set of values inhibits one’s ability to think of and teach new concepts, to relate to a variety of cultural
and individual values and needs, and to create vision for itself.
Diversity skills are skills that are important for a teacher to know.
Diversity skills are being aware of the many different cultures, values, and beliefs. You have to be aware that everyone
is different, and no one has all of the same beliefs. It is important that teachers recognize the many differences,
and do not address one more than the other.
